A+ Mrs. Manning!

And the award for "#1 Teacher" goes to
Fremont High Schools
very own English teacher-
Mrs. Manning
Here's to celebrating 35 years to a wonderful teacher.

My cousins Caitlan & Jenna came to me with this cute character sketch of my aunt that a former student drew many years ago.  She loved the sketch so much that she has displayed it in the window of her classroom door for all these years.  What better way to celebrate a retirement than with cake, not just any cake, a cake that symbolizes her love of her students, literature, and teaching.
A+ Mrs. Manning!

Happy "ANA-versary"

It's not often I give the story behind a cake, but I HAVE to on this one.

This cake was a version of a cake done on the TV show "Cake Boss." (-of which I am an avid fan.)

Ana happened to see the episode where Buddy and his team created a "Chocolate Lovers Dream Cake"....for once the tv had her full attention. It was reported that it was all she could think & dream about for days. So much so that her sweet husband figured that this would be the perfect gift for their 17th anniversary. I must agree!! I could hardly wait for delivery day. What was she going to think? Was it everything she dreamed of? Well, mission accomplished. She was giddy, she savoured it for days.....and it will be a sweet memory to last forever!

An A+ for Ken and his attentiveness! Sweet dreams & a Happy ANA-versary for sure!

Top tier: Chocolate cake w/ mini M & M's with a Hershey fudge filling.

2nd tier: Chocolate cake w/ Reeses Peanut Buttercup filling.

Bottom tier: Chocolate cake w/ caramel & Skor bar filling.

The river of chocolate was adorned w/ every chocolate bar imaginable.

Not to mention the chocolate fondant and layer of ganache that coated this tower of chocolaty goodness.

Angry Birds Continued!

Oh- I'm so glad I found the picture of Hudsons cake.
I couldn't be happier with his version.
GOOD JOB HUBBY!

ANGRY BIRDS:Attempt #1

Whenever there is leftover fondant, and usually there isn't much,
I try out any ideas that have been rolling around my head.

Hudson has been begging to make an angry bird cake forever it seems,
so we went at it. Two cakes were now in the works. His and mine.

This was actually the cake we wanted to make for Scott's birthday,
just a few days too late-not a big deal right???
Cruel? Never, he's not a huge cake fan, we had fat boys instead!
So here it is. Angry Birds attempt #1
I'm sure this won't be my last.

Journal moment:
Hudson said said to me while we were working,
"I wish I had more time to help you mom, but I have a cake to make too!
(I wonder where he got that from-I best work on that)

Ice cream sandwich anyone?

Happy Birthday Dad! I have to say I struggled a little with what cake to do for my dad...and in the last hour I came up with one of his favorite treats. I was a little short on product, so it's half fondant and half good old Betty Crocker frosting.

Here's where YOU pay the tooth fairy!

This is a cake I did for Ceramtech Dental Labs open house. They make things like crowns and bridges for those of us whose teeth need a little extra help! They also can place images on the crowns....like this Mtn. Dew can(which is how I've earned a few crowns myself I'd say-pop that is, coke specifically!)

Remembering sweet little Levi

I was so honored to be asked to duplicate the cake that Levi got in celebration of his one month birthday. Sadly Levi passed shortly thereafter. It was the anniversary gift my cousin Caitlan gave to her Sister Jenna in remembrance of that special day. So thoughtful of you Cait! He was such a sweet little boy and will be greatly missed! Thanks again-and LOVE you all!!

Sweet Apron Cake

For those of you who know my mother, you know she LOVES aprons. She's got one for every occasion. She wears them everywhere, and now one she can eat! Happy birthday mom-luv you much!

Strawberry Waffles Cake

Some might find this choice of a birthday cake oddly interesting, which it is even when you know the inspirational story. You see this cake was made for Bunna(my husbands mother), they are strawberry waffles, almost like the ones she makes for the family every Christmas morning....minus the ham. Yes ham. Tradition is to place chunks of ham in the batter, cook them, top with strawberries & cream, then gobble them. Well not a fan of the ham. So this cake is minus the ham. Which that is why I say oddly interesting....because of the ham. I hope Bunna liked my version of strawberry waffles with out ham...cause I sure do like hers! (with out ham of course)

Sushi Cake

These are little sushi rolls I did for my husband and brothers birthday. This might just be the only sushi I can stomach.
I thought it was a fun cute idea to try. A must eat almost immediately after making (dry out quickly), like sushi I would suppose (spoiling???)
Happy Birthday boys!

Wishing Well Cake

"Wishing you well".....a Happy Birthday, a happy life in your new nest, to get well soon....this is a very versatile cake. I've done this cake a few times now, the first time for my grandmas 85th birthday, and it never gets old......unless your 40 like my last client. It helped Mich'l smile a little even though she turned the big 4-0.
