Happy 1st Birthday Rhetterbug!!

This cake I did for my cute little nephew who lives in Wisconsin.
Yes, WISCONSIN.
My mom was going for a visit, it's his birthday,
so I thought let's try out "Cake on a Plane!"

Good intentions right? But I had trouble from the start. Not a good sign. I learned I need to really think things through a little better.
First, I started sculpting a cute giraffe for the top of the cake when I realized that the dome probably wouldn't fit. So revisions were made. Second, (even after all my prep) I did a double check close to completion & that darn giraffe was still too tall even thought he was standing at the side now. So peel off; cut down. Third, I realized the monkey would be to tall with his party hat on...poor little monkey didn't get to wear his hat. Finally everything seemed to fit. Then fourth, I freaked about the wire & toothpick support I had in the monkey causing problems through security. So I quickly disassembled him and glued him back together with chocolate. Took my picks; popped the lid securely on; and, FIFTH, off popped one of the monkeys ears. It's too snug. R-U-kidding me?@*&!###@ Oh-well, I'm sure there will be travel damage.....so we'll let her do all the repairs once it's there. Sorry about the novel, here's the rest of the pics.

Happy Birthday Ethan!
Ethan turned 4,and he's a Lego man that's for sure!
Lego Batman & Star Wars that is.

His mom had Lego characters (some of his presents)
to be placed on the cake.
I'm not sure which he ended up liking more...
the Lego characters he got,
or the cake?
I know, it's always the toys!

Ethan had a few parties lined up, so she also ordered some cupcake toppers for the cupcakes she made to get her through all the events.
Thanks Nat, I loved seeing you after all these years
-you're my kind of mom!!

Happy Birthday Marek!
Angry Birds Continued!
ANGRY BIRDS:Attempt #1
Whenever there is leftover fondant, and usually there isn't much,
I try out any ideas that have been rolling around my head.
Hudson has been begging to make an angry bird cake forever it seems,
so we went at it. Two cakes were now in the works. His and mine.
This was actually the cake we wanted to make for Scott's birthday,
just a few days too late-not a big deal right???
Cruel? Never, he's not a huge cake fan, we had fat boys instead!

So here it is. Angry Birds attempt #1
I'm sure this won't be my last.

Journal moment:
Hudson said said to me while we were working,
"I wish I had more time to help you mom, but I have a cake to make too!
(I wonder where he got that from-I best work on that)
Happy Birthday Russell!
